In early September, our two members traveled to Belgium to participate in a major historical event called September Odyssey. The historical reenactment organized by 2nd Armored in Europe aimed to recreate the actions of the U.S. 2nd Armored Division on Belgian territory – from the French border to the German border. More than 250 participants from 20 countries traveled the route in 70 World War II vehicles. Along the way they visited memorials and took part in skirmishes with Germans. Our task was quite unusual. We played the roles of Belgian civilians and greeted our liberators in the cities of Sint-Truiden and Hasselt. We took part in a parade and several 1940s dances. The atmosphere of this place was really special. We thank our friends from Belgium for inviting us and providing a roof over our heads.
